KAPITEL 46
Jakob beger sig till Egypten
1 Israel bröt upp med allt han ägde. När han kom till Beer-Sheba offrade han slaktoffer åt sin far Isaks Gud. 2 Gud talade till Israel i en syn om natten och sa: ”Jakob, Jakob!” Han svarade: ”Jag är här.” 3 Då sa han: ”Jag är Gud, din fars Gud. Var inte rädd för att resa ner till Egypten, för där ska jag göra dig till ett stort folk. 4 Jag går med dig ner till Egypten och jag ska också föra dig tillbaka. Och Josefs hand ska sluta dina ögon.”
5 Så bröt Jakob upp från Beer-Sheba. Israels söner hjälpte sin far Jakob, sina små barn och sina hustrur upp på vagnarna som farao hade skickat för att hämta honom. 6 De tog sin boskap och de ägodelar som de förvärvat sig i Kanaan. Så kom Jakob och hela hans ätt med honom till Egypten. 7 Hela sin ätt hade han med sig till Egypten, söner och sonsöner, döttrar och sondöttrar.
8 Detta är namnen på Israels söner &#; Jakob och hans söner &#; som kom till Egypten: Jakobs förstfödde var Ruben. 9 Rubens söner var Henok, Pallu, Hesron och Karmi. 10 Simeons söner var Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Sohar och Saul, kanaaneiskans son. 11 Levis söner var Gershon, Kehat och Merari. 12 Judas söne

Jacob Goes to Egypt
46 So Israel(A) set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba,(B) he offered sacrifices(C) to the God of his father Isaac.(D)
2 And God spoke to Israel(E) in a vision at night(F) and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”
“Here I am,”(G) he replied.
3 “I am God, the God of your father,”(H) he said. “Do not be afraid(I) to go down to Egypt,(J) for I will make you into a great nation(K) there.(L)4 I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again.(M) And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.(N)”
5 Then Jacob left Beersheba,(O) and Israel’s(P) sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts(Q) that Pharaoh had sent to transport him.6 So Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt,(R) taking with them their livestock and the possessions(S) they had acquired(T) in Canaan.7 Jacob brought with him to Egypt(U) his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters—all his offspring.(V)

Joseph’s Dreams
37 Jacob lived in the land where his father had stayed,(A) the land of Canaan.(B)
2 This is the account(C) of Jacob’s family line.
Joseph,(D) a young man of seventeen,(E) was tending the flocks(F) with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah(G) and the sons of Zilpah,(H) his father’s wives, and he brought their father a bad report(I) about them.
3 Now Israel(J) loved Joseph more than any of his other sons,(K) because he had been born to him in his old age;(L) and he made an ornate robe(M) for him.(N)4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him(O) and could not speak a kind word to him.
5 Joseph had a dream,(P) and when he told it to his brothers,(Q) they hated him all the more.(R)6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had:7 We were binding sheaves(S) of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”(T)
8 His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?”(U) And they hated him all the more(V)
